An Evening of Stephen Sondheim
Join us for an intimate evening celebrating the brilliance, wit, and heart of Stephen Sondheim — the music, the words, the magic. Mezzo-soprano Rita Andriello-Feren, joined at the piano by Hank Curtis, one of Kaua‘i’s most beloved musical artists, will take you on a journey through Sondheim’s incomparable songbook — from the haunting beauty of Follies and the rarely heard gems of Anyone Can Whistle to the wisdom and wonder of Into the Woods — with a few surprises, and special duets, along the way. Every song a story. Every story a song.
Many on Kaua‘i know Rita as author, speaker, and Co-Founding Spiritual Director of Center for Spiritual Living Kaua‘i. On this evening, she steps out from behind those roles to embrace her theater and vocal roots — and a lifetime on the stage. Rita holds a Master’s in Theater and Directing and studied voice for more than a decade with Metropolitan Opera star Maralin Niska. She has performed lead roles in dozens of musicals — including Maria in West Side Story, Aldonza in Man of La Mancha, Guenevere in Camelot, and Miss Mona in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas — and has sung cabaret and drama across the years with her husband, Patrick Feren.
The concert will be followed by a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception. For our global community beyond Kaua‘i, tickets include access to a private live-stream — your link will be sent before the concert.
